Find out what's not covered in your breakdown policy when you take breakdown
cover out.
Excluded information...
- Parts are excluded on any breakdown cover policy, you will have
to pay for parts yourself.
- You may have to pay for labour costs, some labour costs do get
covered but sometimes on big jobs you could be billed for.
- If you make a claim, you will not get any amount over the market
value of your vehicle.
- If you have an accident, usually breakdown companies do not
recover you, that's up to your insurance company.
- If you make a claim and you've went over a certain millage set
by your breakdown policy, you need not be paid out.
- If you do not follow the claims procedure in your policy, your
claim could be invalid.
- Animals are usually not covered by breakdown companies, it's
really up to the patrol man, so be nice to them.
- If you breakdown because of a starter motor problem, and then
you call again what a starter motor problem with the same vehicle,
this tells the breakdown company that you haven't bothered repairing
the starter motor. You may not get another call out because of this
reason.
- Each breakdown policy has a maximum number of callouts per
policy. If you go over that, your breakdown company will make you
pay for additional callouts, be careful with this one.
- Usually your breakdown policy will cover trailers caravans or
anything else you tow, but if that vehicle you are towing breaks
down, then you will have to find somebody else to come out to
recovery you.
